A skylight can completely transform your room!  A dull dark room that feels stuffy can become a room filled with brilliance and light.  Natural lighting improves the atmosphere of a room by providing genuine sunlight in a room that would otherwise be much darker.

Different Kinds of Skylights

There are several different kinds of skylights that are used--all of them are for different rooms and situations.

Fixed Skylights

Fixed skylights are designed with fixed panes to allow light through without ventilation.  If installed where there is an attic a soffit will be constructed from the ceiling to the skylight and will match the existing sheetrock texture or other interior design that you have in your house.

Ventilating Skylights

These are identical to the fixed skylight except that they opened to let air pass through.  These skylights are ideal for areas that could use more ventilation such as bathrooms and kitchens.  They can be opened by a hand crank, remote control or even a temperature sensor.

Tubular Skylights

Tubular skylights are idea for areas that are difficult to install a fixed or ventilating skylight in.  These skylights can be as small as 12" in diameter or as large as 24", but because of the reflective duct that caries the light from the roof through the attic bring in an amazing amount of light.  These also are the most inexpensive skylights to install.  The often install within a day for less than half the cost of most fixed skylights.
