Caulking and Sealing in Portland Oregon
Many homes are not sealed properly so that heating bill is much greater than it needs to be. According to the Bonneville Power Administration, "Even a well-insulated home can lose as much as 30 percent of its heat through small cracks around door and window jambs, thresholds, and frames"
To Check Your Caulking and Sealing:
1. Look at your front door; can you see any light or gaps from the outside?
2. Go outside and look at your windows, often they are caulked around the edges: is the caulking cracked? How about the caulking on the siding?

Another thing caulking and sealing does is prevent water from getting where it shouldn't.
3. Go into the bathrooms and check the seal between the toilets and the floors, shower/tub and floor and the sink and counter.
4. Go into the kitchen and check the back-splash (the first 12 inches of the wall behind your sink) it should be sealed to the counter-top.
The solution:
- Replace worn or discolored caulk and sealant on the siding and other places with new caulking to keep your home protected.
- Install weather stripping to seal around your doors and windows to increase comfort reduce energy costs.
- Re-caulking bathrooms and kitchens to insure continued protection of your home.
